Mayor & City Manager Wish Councilor Thibodeau Best of Luck in His New Endeavor

COUNCIL NEWS

Following the news that Councilor Spencer Thibodeau is stepping down from his Council District 2 seat to take a job in the Biden-Harris Administration at the U.S. Department of Energy, Mayor Kate Snyder and City Manager Jon Jennings would like to wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors.

“It’s exciting to see Councilor Thibodeau continuing his career in public service by going to serve us in the federal government,” said Mayor Snyder. “I wish him all the best in D.C., and I’d like to thank him for all that he’s done for his constituents and for the community as a whole. Portland is a better place because of his contributions.”

“I’m excited for Councilor Thibodeau to take his public service career to the next level by serving in the Biden-Harris Administration,” said City Manager Jon Jennings. “I’m thankful that I got to know him and work with him for the last six years. He’s full of talent and energy, and I know he will continue to do great things wherever he goes.”

Councilor Thibodeau was serving his second term on the City Council, which was set to expire this December. He had already announced that he would not be seeking re-election. His seat will remain vacant until a new councilor is elected on November 2 and sworn-in on December 6.

Mayor Snyder will fulfill the role of Chair of the Council’s Housing & Economic Development Committee until December when new Council Committee assignments will be decided.
