City Celebrates National Voter Registration Day with Voter Registration Drives at Two High Schools

The City of Portland will celebrate National Voter Registration Day on Tuesday, September 25 by conducting voter registration drives at two Portland high schools.

“Our goal is to help our younger voters with information as to how to register to vote, and where their polling place is so they can vote on Election Day,” said Portland City Clerk Katherine Jones.

“Nothing is more fundamental to our democracy than voting,” said Mayor Ethan Strimling. “And the first step is making sure people are registered to vote. I am very pleased we are bringing the City Clerk’s Office into our schools so that young people have an opportunity to participate in their first election this fall.”

City Clerk staff will be at Casco Bay High School from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm and at Deering High School from 10:40 am to 12:30 pm on September 25, 2018. The League of Women Voters will be doing a drive at Portland High School.
