Capisic Pond Park Project

The project is complete.

There will be environmental assessments done every year for 5 years to monitor the growth of the plants and trees.

During the December 2019 monitoring report there were two areas that were recommended to install additional willow and dogwood whips.  Also a stand of common reed was identified.  The city will be exploring options to manage this new growth.

In 2020 the city will be working within the pond and performing the recommendations from the report which can be found below.

If you have questions please feel free to email.

Project Overview

Capisic Pond Park is a recreational open space area between Brighton Avenue and Capisic Street, which has long been a favorite place for residents to walk and enjoy nature. Capisic Pond, created by the dam at Capisic Street, serves as the receiving water body for Capisic Brook as it flows to the Fore River and Casco Bay. The Capisic Pond Park Project is being pursued to explore the needs for Capisic Pond and Park in preparation for developing and implementing a sustainable management plan for this community resource.
