PORTLAND CITY HALL IS AN AUTHORIZED U.S. PASSPORT ACCEPTANCE FACILITY

City Hall offers first-time passport applications by appointment only in the City Manager's office, Room 208, Portland City Hall. Please call 207-874-8685, to schedule an appointment.

For walk in services, please visit the Portland Post Office at 125 Forest Ave, Portland ME 04101, 207-871-8423. 

TO RENEW YOUR PASSPORT PLEASE VISIT WWW.TRAVEL.STATE.GOV  AND COMPLETE THE FOLLOWING STEPS - rENEWAL PASSPORT BY MAIL AND BRING YOUR APPLICATION TO YOUR CLOSEST POST OFFICE.

The following information is very important for persons applying for a U.S. Passport:

1.    Complete the U.S. Passport Application (DS-11) for a passport book and/or passport card. Application must be signed in the presence of a Passport Acceptance Agent.*

  • 1 certified copy of applicant’s birth certificate plus 1 photocopy of applicant’s birth certificate;
  • Picture I.D. of the applicant (driver’s license or State ID preferred);
  • Payment to the U.S. Department of State must be either check or money order;
  • Payment to City of Portland must be either check, money order, or cash;
  • 1 passport sized photo; the City of Portland offers passport photo service for $15.00 per photo;

 3.   Fee Schedule for Passport Book Applications:

  • $35.00 check, money order, or cash payable to the City of Portland for each application;
  • $110 check or money order payable to the U.S. Department of State of applicants age 16 or older;
  • $80 check or money order payable to the U.S. Department of State for applicants age 15 or younger (both parents must be present as well as the applicant);
  • A separate check or money order is required for each passport book application;

   4.      Fee Schedule for Passport Cards:

  • $35.00 check, money order, or cash payable to the City of Portland for each application;**
  • $30 check or money order payable to the U.S. Department of State of applicants age 16 or older;
  • $15 check or money order payable to the U.S. Department of State for applicants age 15 or younger (both parents must be present as well as the applicant);
  • A separate check or money order is required for each passport card application;

**If applying for both a passport book and a passport card, then only one $35.00 fee applies per application.
