Long Range Planning Projects

Below is a listing of our current and recently completed long range planning projects.

In December 2017, the City Council approved a moratorium on demolition on Munjoy Hill for six months, in order to allow time for evaluation of the existing zoning and land use tools and propose changes based on staff analysis.

At the same time, the R-6 zoning City-wide in being evaluated for possible changes to the 2015 ordinance.

In February 2018, the Council approved interim zoning to govern new development during the remainder of the moratorium.

Median Front Setback

As part of the staff analysis of Munjoy Hill, estimated measurements were made of every property in the R-6 zone on Munjoy Hill.
These were estimated measurements from the street for planning purposes, not surveyed work. For those who are interested in the raw data, it can be downloaded here:

The Planning Board is now considering changes proposed at the March 24th session. They held a workshop on April 10 and have tentatively scheduled a hearing on May 8th. The Planning Board's recommendations will go to the City Council for a final vote.
