The entry-level written test is an online test administered at the Portland Police Department. The test consists of 200 questions which measure general cognitive abilities and assess attributes important to performing in an entry level police officer position. Applicants must score a minimum of 70 to pass the test and remain in the hiring process. Applicants are notified of their status immediately following the test.
Please note that applicants may take the written test no more than two times during a rolling six month period. Applicants who pass the tests will be contacted to schedule an interview.
Preparing for the Written Test
Although the test measures general aptitude, some applicants find it helpful to take a practice test or use a study guide to prepare.
