Firefighter/EMT
Fire-
The Fire Department of the City of Portland has integrated the delivery of fire suppression and Emergency Medical services and expects successful applications to perform both functions.
Requirements: Applicants must be certified as an EMT-B at the time of hire. Intermediate or Paramedic certification is desirable. EMT-B’s will be required to obtain certification as an EMT-I during recruit school. Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent, two years of post high school employment or three years of post high school education at a college or university or any equivalent combination of post high school education and work experience totaling three years. Applicants will be required to pass a written exam, background check, Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT), and a medical exam. Starting salary: $607.74/wk with additional pay for EMT-I or EMT-P certification plus excellent fringe benefits. Applicants must submit a cover letter, resume, copy of their high school diploma or equivalency, copy of a driver’s license, and a copy of their EMT license. Deadline is Friday, March 26, 2010.
Note: an EMT license is not required to take the exam but is required at time of hire.

Chief Medical Officer
Health and Human Services-Public Health - Ptld Community Health Center
This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a team of dedicated professional and medical providers serving individuals and families in the Greater Portland Area. Experience working with culturally diverse, low-income, immigrant, and underserved populations, as well as having bilingual skills, is desirable. The desired candidate shall be board-certified in Family Practice or Internal Medicine and must maintain an active medical license in the State of Maine. This is a
full-time, contract position involving medical oversight of the Center, consultation and supervision of other medical staff, referral and networking within the community, and the provision of direct primary care services to the Center’s patient population. Experience working with culturally diverse, low-income, immigrant, and underserved populations, as well as having bilingual skills, is desirable. Must pass a criminal conviction background check; must comply with the Public Health Division’s requirements for vaccination and screening within first 30 days of employment – medical and personal exemptions may be requested.

Crossing Guides
Parking-
2009-2010 school year – 10-12 hours per week. May work specific location or be a floater who works at various locations as needed. Must be able to withstand exposure to varied weather conditions. Floaters must have own transportation. Must successfully complete a criminal conviction background check. $9.25/hr; $10.25/hr. for floaters.

Event Staff (Security) - on-call
Recreation & Facilities Management-Public Assembly Facilities
on-call, part-time, event based positions - must be able to work a flexible schedule to include days, evenings and weekends - Merrill Auditorium and Portland Sports Complex - Duties will include security services, guest services, ticket taking, ushering, parking attendant and other similar functions as necessary. Some lifting may be required and some shifts will be working outside. Must be able to stand for extended periods of time, walk and climb stairs. Must have excellent customer service skills. Starting pay is $8.68/hr. plus $.45/hr. shift differential when applicable. This position
is not eligible for benefits.

on-call – After School Recreation Program – Immediately to June 20, 2010 - 2 hours to 14.5 hours per week - 3:00 – 5:00 p.m., Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. on Wednesdays for After School program – some days to 5:30 p.m. Must have experience & enjoy working with children and have knowledge of various sports/leisure activities for youngsters. Candidates must possess a valid class C State of Maine driver’s license and have a clean driving record. Successful candidates must pass a criminal conviction background check. $11.99/hr.

Seasonal Groundskeepers - Athletic Facilities
Recreation & Facilities Management-
mid-April to mid-October - full-time, part-time and on-call positions available - schedule to include weekends and nights. Responsibilities include mowing, trimming, lining fields and general ballfield maintenance as well as opening/closing facilities, turning on/off light systems, and setting up fields for events. Athletic experience preferred but not mandatory. Responsibility, maturity, and dedication are a must. Positions start at $10.00/hour.
