Custodial Worker - on-call
Recreation & Facilities Management-
Schedule may include nights and weekends. This position is located primarily at Merrill Auditorium, City Hall and Sports Complex but may be required to work in other City-owned buildings. Duties include event set-up prior to events, necessary assistance during events including placing and moving chairs, mats, riser and stage sections, sound and light equipment and sports equipment, clean-up immediately after event including moving and/or removing all items and equipment that was used during the event and routine cleaning of facility prior to and following each event. Duties also include performing routine facility maintenance as necessary and routine exterior maintenance, including snow removal. Requirements: Ability to lift and move heavy objects over an extended period of time; working knowledge of building cleaning practices, supplies and equipment; ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions; ability to meet and deal courteously with the public; physical strength and agility necessary to perform the essential functions of the work; must possess valid Maine Class C driver's license (please provide license number) and vehicle available for work use where applicable. part-time, contract position with benefits – 32 hrs/wk – The Healthcare for the Homeless Clinic is seeking a part-time Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to provide medication management and psychiatric services in an integrated outpatient primary care clinic. The Healthcare for the Homeless Clinic is part of the Portland Community Health Center and provides primary care to approximately 3,000 homeless residents of Greater Portland. Experience working with underserved populations and substance abuse is desirable. Candidates must be certified as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner and maintain Maine state licensure. Loan repayment is an option via the National Health Service Corps.

Summer Track and Field

(1) Assistant Track Coach – June 24 to August 10 - 10–12 hrs/week. Schedule is Monday and Tuesday practices, 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. and Thursday track meets at 2:00 p.m. Significant knowledge of track and field; coaching and teaching skills; knowledge of Hy-Tek meet manager software; knowledge of USA Track and Field rules and policies; experience driving 15 passenger activity bus is desirable. Previous experience working with children ages 7 – 14 years. Successful candidates will be subject to a criminal conviction background check and must possess a valid class C State of Maine driver’s license and have a clean driving record. $10.00 - $13.00/hr. depending upon experience. Telecommunicator (911 Dispatcher)
Police-
This is a critical position in Portland's Emergency Communications Center. The Communications Center provides 24-hour emergency/non-emergency dispatch services for Police, Fire and Emergency Medical services. The normal duties of this position include but are not limited to: work 8 or 12 hour shifts, to cover 24-hours a day 7 days a week, including holidays and weekends; communicates with police and fire units by radio; answers both emergency (911) and non-emergency telephones; provide Emergency Medical instructions over the phone for emergency medical situations; input data into computer regarding stolen property, vehicles, and guns; enter missing and wanted persons in state, local and national computer systems; other related duties as required. This is a fast-paced team environment that requires the following qualifications: graduation from high school or any equivalent combination of experience and training; ability to work with advanced computer-aided dispatching technology; capacity to act quickly, calmly and correctly in emergency situations; must be able to use tact and diplomacy in stressful situations; availability to work all shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays; strong listening, memory and multi-tasking skills; accurate typing skills; solid customer service skills. Police background check and polygraph required. Must be able to obtain Maine Emergency Medical Dispatch Certification (EMD) and Maine Certified Terminal Operator Certification within 6 months of employment. $666.40/wk plus night shift differential when applicable. Human Services Counselor - project position
Health and Human Services-Social Services
project, grant-funded, full-time position (37.5 hours per week) – schedule is Monday through Friday, 1:00 – 9:30 PM – requires flexible schedule. Position will work as a Housing Stabilization Navigator for the new Home to Stay grant program. This position will have a strong focus on locating, attaining and retaining permanent housing for homeless individuals. Position will perform human services activities such as conducting client needs assessments, client goals and objections, referrals to mainstream resources and other essential primary services. Provides housing placement services to individuals residing in City operated Shelters. Job duties include conducting assessments, counseling, casework, homeless prevention, housing relocation, follow- up home visits and stabilization services to families. Requirements: BA Degree in Social Services or equivalent combination of education, experience and training; experience working with the homeless population – including housing location and retention, mental health, substance abuse, and community outreach; knowledge of the principles and practices of case management/casework including follow-up case management; ServicePoint experience; knowledge and experience with HUD homeless programs and best practices strongly desired; must have access to vehicle for work use. This position requires a satisfactory criminal background check. $670 - $755/wk.
