The Smoke-Free Housing Coalition of Maine is group comprised of over 50 public health advocates, tenants, landlords, property managers, environmental health professionals and many others. Our mission, through education, advocacy and voluntary policy change, is to reduce the number of multi-unit residents who are involuntarily exposed to secondhand smoke. We have been working with housing authorities, private landlords, developments, condominium associations and tenants since 2004.

The Coalition provides a wide-range of free services to both landlords and tenants, including but not limited to, enforcement tools such as signage, key chains, and window decals, technical assistance in drafting policies and maintaining said policies, facilitating policy change for the protection of tenants and properties, and a free online registry for landlords to list their apartments so tenants may quickly and easily locate a smoke-free home.
