Healthy Portland is a community coalition working to improve the health of our city by promoting healthy, active ways of life. The community coalition is made up of people from schools, businesses, worksites, media, public policy makers, community groups and residents who work together towards one common mission:  Making Portland a healthier place to live, work and play.

Healthy Portland is committed to helping communities develop strategies to improve health that are locally-based, sustainable, and effective. In collaboration with coalition members and other groups, Healthy Portland works to:

• Create and promote physical activity programs for worksites, families and individuals
• Offer mini-grants to support youth involvement in healthy communities, and to schools and community organization to support a healthier Portland
• Assist with smoke-free policies at worksites, childcare centers, and other community agencies. Click here to learn more about March Into May, a worksite wellness program put on by Healthy Portland.
• Assist with worksite and school nutrition policies and changes
• Provide technical assistance for Safe Routes to School
• Improve the built environment for physical activity (for example: increasing the number of bike racks, and increasing the miles of bike lanes)  Click here to request a bike rack in your neighborhood.  
• Create tobacco-free zones (bus stops, parks and recreation facilities, etc)
• Support Commute Another Way Day
• Increase smoke-free housing
