The Downtown Portland Corporation (DPC), staffed by the Economic Development Division, provides a continuum of financial assistance to business and industry throughout the City and works to institute economic development programs in Portland, with particular emphasis on the Downtown area, to insure compliance to City’s goals, objectives and requirements.

Formed by the City in 1991, the DPC’s loan programs have provide more than 100 Portland businesses with over $5.5 million in financial assistance. Add in the Tax Increment Financing incentive program, and the DPC has stimulated over $121 million in new investment and created or retained more than 5,300 jobs for Portland. In the loan portfolio, every one dollar of City funds invested leveraged nearly $9.50 in private capital.

In order to qualify as a board member some or all of the following experience is required: commercial financing, small business operations, commercial real estate, marketing, and have an interest in or be active in economic development. Residency in Portland is not required.
