To Residents and Property Owners: The Portland Planning Board will hold a workshop to consider a plan by Avesta Housing for a 37 unit affordable housing project with a total floor area of 26,375 sq. ft. and a building footprint of 5,495 sq. ft. The bedroom mix is for 9 efficiency, 26 one-bedroom and 2 two-bedroom units. A total of 31 parking spaces are proposed for this project at 17 Carleton Street.

The workshop is an opportunity for the applicant to present a plan to the Planning Board in an informal session which is open to the public. Public comments will be taken at this meeting.

To Residents and Property Owners: An Application was received and the Portland Planning Board will hold a workshop to consider a plan by Motherhouse Associates, LP and Sea Coast at Baxter Woods Associates, LLC for proposed rehabilitation of the former St. Joseph’s Convent (known as the Motherhouse) into 88 units of senior housing, with 66 affordable units and 22 market rate units, along with73 parking spaces/9 handicap spaces for this proposal.
The application includes the subdivision of the 18.98 Sisters of Mercy site at 605 Stevens Avenue into four lots, with Lot 3 (4.39 acres) for the Motherhouse senior housing proposal. The workshop is an opportunity for the applicant to present a plan to the Planning Board in an informal session which is open to the public. Public comments will be taken at this meeting.

The new 3 story building has a footprint of 2,706 sq. ft. and a total floor area of 2,100 sq. ft. The proposed bank includes a proposal for a double lane drive-through, which is a conditional use in the B-7 zone at 20 Marginal Way. Public comments will be taken at this meeting.

To Residents and Property Owners: The Portland Planning Board will hold a public hearing to consider a plan by Jewish Community Alliance of Southern Maine. The applicant is proposing to construct a neighborhood center which is a conditional use (place of assembly) in the R-5 zone. The 91,146 sq. ft. lot is located in the R-5 zone on the site of the former St. Patrick’s Church. The proposal is to demolish the existing building and construct a 19,146 sq. ft. building for a neighborhood center with a portion of the building used for a pre-school/day care center at 1342 Congress Street. Public comments will be taken at this meeting.

To Residents and Property Owners: The Portland Planning Board will hold a public hearing to consider a plan by AVESTA 72 Bishop Street, LP. The applicant is proposing to construct a 21,274 sq. ft. building at 72 Bishop Street. Thirty (30) efficiency units are proposed for homeless individuals under the housing first approach, which will include support services for the residents. The lot has 52,383 sq. ft. with 50 feet of frontage along Bishop Street. Site improvements include 12 vehicle parking spaces and 12 bicycle spaces. at 72 Bishop Street. Public comments will be taken at this meeting.
