Drive Less, Do More celebrates multimodal lifestyle in Portland

Drivelessdomore

Portland Downtown, the City of Portland, and local transit organizations are throwing a Launch Party for a new multimodal transportation marketing campaign – Drive Less, Do More – from 8am to 10am on Tuesday, September 24th in Monument Square. The celebration will include a free interactive transportation fair for community members, as well as a brief press conference at 9am.

A collaborative project one year in the making, Drive Less, Do More encourages Greater Portland residents and visitors to "join the movement toward a happier, healthier Portland" by considering ways of getting around the city beyond driving a car. Less driving means more money saved on gas, more time enjoying the great outdoors, and more time connecting with your community.
At the Launch Party, attendees will enjoy:

  • A first look at campaign messaging and visuals including street pole banners along Congress Street and posters in METRO bus shelters.
  • Free branded goodies including stickers, postcards, and swag from local transportation organizations.
  • "Ask a Transportation Guru" – Transit experts will be on hand to answer attendees' questions about taking the bus, train, plane, boat, or trail. Exhibitors include METRO, Go Maine, Portland Trails, Amtrak Downeaster, Greater Portland Council of Governments, ShuttleBus-ZOOM, and the City of Portland's Planning & Urban Development Department.
  • Raffle prizes and interactive games.

Brief remarks for media will take place at 9am.

Drive Less, Do More is a collaborative initiative made by possible by Portland Downtown, City of Portland, Greater Portland METRO, Amtrak Downeaster, Portland International Jetport, Bicycle Coalition of Maine, Portland Trails, Casco Bay Lines, Greater Portland Council of Governments, and Go Maine.
