Street Maintenance Signs Not Enforced On-Peninsula June 1 - Sept 30

Have you seen these decals being added to our on- peninsula street maintenance signs lately? If so, please know they are in fact legit!

Last fall, the Council voted to suspend the enforcement of the street maintenance signs from June 1 thru September 30th (excluding those in the Old Port/Downtown District). For the past few weeks, City staff has been installing decals on the signs indicating that the restrictions are in effect from October 1 through May 31.

Here is the official language from the Council action:

Peninsula parking (including section around Nathan Clifford School): Only enforce the street maintenance signs (12:01-7:00 AM or 10:00 AM-2:00 PM) from October 1 to May 31 each year.

This time frame allows for City staff to sweep streets due to the annual leaf drop, allow for snow removal during winter months, allow for the sweeping of the streets in the spring to clean up the residual sand/salt from winter operations, and residents will not have to move their vehicles between June 1 and September 30th.

However, please know that if you leave vehicles in the same spot for more than 10 days, they may be ticketed according to code 13 abandon/storage.

THIS CHANGE WILL NOT APPLY TO AREA 3 (Old Port/Downtown). The existing street maintenance restrictions in area 3 Sunday/Monday and Tuesday/Wednesday 11:30-7:00AM signs will be enforced year round.
