Join Us for Cross Country Skiing Through Evergreen Cemetery Woods

Cross Country Skiing Evergreen Cemetery

Join Portland Parks staff as for a cross country ski through the Evergreen Cemetery Woods.

Presenter: Jeff Tarling, Portland City Arborist, and Ethan Hipple, Parks Director

Location: Evergreen Cemetery, meet at Brentwood Gardens entrance

Time and Date: Saturday, February 10, 2018, 1:00 PM - 3:30 PM.

Description: Join Portland Parks staff as for a cross country ski through the Evergreen Cemetery Woods. The 300-acre Evergreen Cemetery property contains 100 acres of woods filled with miles of trails, rocky ledges and great cross country skiing and snowshoeing terrain. If snow is on the ground, we will travel by ski. Intermediate cross-country ski skills required as this is not a lesson. All skiers must be able to travel on back country trails and come to a stop on their own in steep terrain.  If the ground is bare, we will do the route as a hike, but ice grippers may be necessary. Kids are welcome (and encouraged) with adult supervision. Bring water and a snack, and be prepared to be outside in the cold for several hours. Length: 3+ miles
