Beckett Street Milling Operations

The Portland Department of Public Works would like to update you of the work scheduled for Beckett Street associated with the Moody-Wilson sewer separation and Beckett Street sewer replacement project.

As part of the project, Beckett Street will receive a full 1.5 inches of new pavement.  In order to place the new pavement and not create any issues with existing street grade and curb reveal we will be removing 1.5 inches of the existing pavement through a milling operation.  This essentially grinds out a portion of the pavement in the same amount that will be replaced.

This notice is provided to inform you that the work is scheduled for Friday, September 15th.  As such, the entire street will be posted as “No Parking” from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM. You will be towed if your car is on the street. The work will progress the length of the street and we ask that you observe and respect the contractor and any traffic directional changes as we progress.

Once the milling is complete, the street surface will be uneven, so please use caution when walking or especially bicycling on it.

Paving is currently being scheduled in the last week of September.  An exact date is not yet available but you will receive another similar notice of the No Parking prior to that activity.

If you have any immediate questions, please feel free to contact Brad Roland or Justin Pellerin at 874-8828.
