School Facilities Ad Hoc Committee
In late June of 2016, the Portland Board of Public Education approved a $70,593,229 educational facilities rehabilitation bond issue called the Buildings for Our Future Initiative. It would finance repairs and renovations in the City’s public elementary schools including Presumpscot, Longfellow, Lyseth and Reiche. The initiative was then sent to the Portland City Council for their review and recommendation on whether to place the issue on the ballot for a referendum vote. The School Facilities Ad Hoc Committee was formed by the City Council to further vet and provide a recommendation on the proposal before it is sent back to the Board of Public Education for their approval, reviewed by the Council’s Finance Committee and then ultimately voted on by the full Council.
The meetings of the School Facilities Ad Hoc Committee will be open to the public and the documents that will be examined by the Committee will be available for public review.
Agendas are available prior to the meetings. Minutes are available following approval.
