This project is now complete.
As part of our continued efforts to separate our stormwater and wastewater systems, in 2013 we two large, underground storage conduits were constructed under Baxter Boulevard and Payson Park. During wet weather, our wastewater treatment plant can become overwhelmed with the increased volume of stormwater flowing to the plant. When this happens, it often resulted in sewage being diverted into our local waterways. The installation of the conduits now allows millions of gallons of sewage to be held and slowly released from the conduits once the wastewater treatment plant can handle the flow.
